Dada Hårstudio

Dada Hårstudio is hair salon in Bergen. Dada is also an art movement that favors chaos. This was an assignment at school were I was to make a poster for the hair salon. Studying the art form I got inspired to make this poster. It is ment to describe all the effort, time and money we put into how we look. We want to look beautiful, we want to have a neet haircut. And even though we use a decent amount of time to get to the right hair salon and spend a lot of moneys on it, we often end up in disappointment. I chose to only use metaphors on this one. Chose not to use grids and to let lose. Still needs some work on the background, but hey, it was put together in one day.

Robot/Boogaloo

This was actually a very interesting project to work on. Robot/Boogaloo is a retro shop in Bergen, Norway, that sells loads of random and retro stuff. The ones on my year studying graphic design were to design boxes that the shop could exhibit in the shop window. We could make whatever we wanted as long as it fitted inside the boxes we were given. And it was quite fun to make something without only using a computer for once.  And if you were one of the lucky ones the shop owner would pick out your box and put it in his window. Spoiler alert!: mine was one of them!

We also got to chose if we wanted to use Robot or Boogaloo. I chose Robot obviously... fewer letters. The concept behind mine was that the box was made up of a retro TV, taking you back in time. Which was the feeling I got when I first entered the shop, like I had entered a time-machine. It is such a cool shop! Then came the typo in a robotic style with wires and screws all over, referring to robots. It never got completely done, and I was suppose to add a screen etc. But I never got the time to fully complete it. Money saved on material though.

The box also had a spotlight in the "roof" making it possible to see it at night. Wicked!

Tine Ad & Boards

This is a group assignment were i worked as AD. We were to come up with a new drink in the Mana series, which is some kind of healthy juice drink I think. The taste we went for was a kiwi, lime, grape and wheat grass juice.. I bet it would taste horrible.

Anyway we were suppose to make an ad and two boards, and we came up with the idea of using cartoons mixed with photos. Having a cool ninja kiwi slicing up the bad-guy fruits which were to become the juice.

Surprisingly Tine hasn`t called us yet offering millions for the idea.

Some Personal Stuff

During all this time I have also made a few personal drawings I thought I`d post. I`ll see if I can find some more that is worth posting later.

These first ones were just some experimentation I did in photoshop, trying out some layer mask effects. Was hoping to continue making illustrations with this style but got sidetracked somehow. Now I´m not really sure I remember how to make these kind of things anymore.

Door Sign:

This is a door sign I made when living with my room-mates Stephan (Gunslinger), Ingrid (Whore) and Ronny (Ninja). The most awesome people you`ll ever meet!:)
Pure awesome drawing. And it came as no shocker when it was stolen one day. My mac crashed during the same time and I really thought I had lost it. Luckily I recently found a backup of it.

Ashridge15 Logo:

A drawing I made last spring, of me and the two dudes I was living with (Passion & Speed). It was made in context with the blog we were making at the time. Which by our laziness ended up in utter failure. We have also moved now. But if you know norwegian and want to check out our three posts, go to lovehouse15.blogspot.com

Nike Shoebox Design

An assignment where I was to come up with shoe box design. As all of the other assignments at my school we had to think environmentally and come up with good ideas on how to save our precious nature. I had to make one design for boys and one for girls.

Boys version:

Girls version:

Stacking:

Originally I was suppose to make another illustration for the girl version, but having too little time I had to use the same on both of them. I was also suppose to make the boxes in full scale but ended up making miniatures.. which saved me a butt-load of money.
But why is this box environmental you may ask? Well, it might use as much materials to make as with regular shoe boxes, if not a little more. But it takes less space when stacked and is easier to transport. It is well fitted for reuse. And when the shoe lady at shoe store asks: "you need a bag with that?" you can say:"Heeeeell nooo, sweet cheeks! This badboy already has a handle!"

In addition to the shoebox I also had to design the shoes that comes with them.

Some Logos

These are some of the logos I made during my studies in Norway. Can`t seem to find all I`ve made... must be hidden away on my external harddrive somewhere. Probably a good reason to why they are hid away as well...

wetry:

wetry (we try), is a fictional organization which are to help native americans with alcohol problems. wetry is offering a helping hand to the ones who want help, and is not pushing help on the ones who won`t accept it. Therefore the humble name, wetry. If I remember correctly the wolf stands for strong leader and guidance... and some other stuff, and was a suitable pictogram for the logo.

mobelfakta.no:

the logos for mobelfakta.no was a 24 hour assignment we had on our school (called a Catapult) and was for an actual client. "mobelfakta.no is a trademark/logo/furniture brand stating that the manifacturer using it is environmentally certified, and the furniture carrying it is environmentally declared/documented and quality certified."
Having so little time it is difficult to come up with a mind-blowing idea and pull it through. But what I saw amongst my fellow students was that most of them were using furniture in their logos, such as chairs, sofas etc. So my main strategy was to not do that.. haha. Instead I chose to use a tree, the source to most furniture out there. It was great success and I ended up amongst the top three contributors and were to work further on concepts for a webpage and a brochure. Sadly none of us got the job.

Sundt:

Also a fictional assignment at school where I was to remake the Sundt logo. Sundt is a shopping centre in Bergen, Norway, and focuses on fashion. The building itself is known for its architecture and also has a statue of Hermes (God of Trade and Merchants in Greek mythology) on top of it. Mixing these three ingredients I came up with the final result. The concept is pretty good I think.

Evolution of Game - Poster

This is a poster I made back in 2009. It was a school project where I was suppose to make a poster for a fictional exhibition, and I came up with one who would show the improvements within gaming, both within technology and graphics.

Highly inspired by the evolution of man concept,  I came up with this idea for the poster. The assignment also said that I weren`t allowed to take any photos or use pictures from the internet, so I actually had to draw the figures myself. So it ended up being a much more time-consuming project than I first assumed. Anyways it was a great project to work on and I learned a lot of new techniques.
